The route was created as the ideal ride for Brazil’s warm summer months since we spend most our time well above sea level, in the mountain ranges of three of Brazil’s greatest motorcycling States – Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo and Minas Gerais.

Our adventure begins with a climb up the Fluminense sierras past the distinctive Serra dos Orgãos to spend the night in a mountain region that even Swiss who immigrated here in the 19th Century found easy to call home.

From there we ride north into the Capixaba sierras, home to Flag Peak, Brazil’s 3rd highest and Blue Rock, where we stop for the night.  Moving west into the Mineira sierras, famed for its seemingly inexhaustible supply of gold in the 18th and 19th Centuries, we will spend a couple nights in the beautiful, historic villages born of this wealth.

On our return, we will wind south through the Serra da Mantiqueira, spending the night near Black Needles Peak, one of Brazil’s highest, before skirting the Serra da Bocaina east back to the State of Rio de Janeiro.

For a perfect finish, we zigzag across the Serra das Araras, confirming that the Brazilian sierras rank amongst the greatest of motorcycling destinations.
